			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Headaches are common with many people and they are characterized by pain either in the upper neck or in the head. Headaches are classified as primary headaches, secondary headaches and cranial neuralgias. Primary headaches are less common and they include cluster headaches, migraines and tension headaches. Tension headaches are experienced by many people and up to 90% of adults have suffered a tension headache in their life. Research shows that more women than men suffer from this type of headache. Migraine headaches on the other hand are also common and 12% of people have suffered migraines once in a lifetime. </p>
<p>Children also suffer from headaches such as migraines and they get worse during adolescence. Women in this case are also more prone to migraines as compared to men.  Cluster headaches are rare and they are common with men though women and children also get them. Secondary headaches are caused by underlying factors such as tumors, bleeding in the brain, encephalitis and meningitis. Cranial neuralgia is caused by inflammations in the nerves that are either in the neck or head. Facial pain is also included in this category. Tension headaches are very common and they result from muscle contractions in the skull. </p>
<p>There are various causes of headaches that include bacterial infections that may affect the outside or inside of the head. Caffeine is another cause of headaches and people addicted to caffeine will suffer from headaches if they stop its consumption. Cold drinks or foods also cause headaches as they may cause a brain freeze. Compression of the head either by a helmet of hat or any other tight fitting gear may cause headaches. Concussions and dialysis also cause headaches. A fracture that touches on the skull can cause headaches. Giant cell arteritis and hyperventilation also cause headaches. Other causes include illicit drug withdrawal, intracranial hemorrhage, medications, sexual activity, trauma, viral infection and meningitis. </p>
<p>Tension headaches are characterized by symptoms such as extreme pain in the head and back of neck. The eyebrows feel pressured and the pain subsides to make it milder. The pain is sporadic in the way it occurs and people will function normally. Cluster headaches may be characterized by pain that occurs once or twice a day. These headaches are sporadic and may last for over an hour when they strike. The excruciating pain will be felt behind one eye. The nose may become stuffy and congested and the eyes may become watery, red or inflamed. </p>
<p>Treatment for headaches depends on the type of headache though over the counter medications always work. These include aspirin, ibuprofen medications such as Advil and Motrin or acetaminophens such as Tylenol. Migraines take a different treatment method and people may rest in dark rooms. They may also compress the pain areas with either a cold or hot cloth. Massages help ease migraines and so do doses of caffeine. Injections may be used to cure cluster headaches and people may use oxygen masks or triptan nasal sprays. Rocking and pacing is also a cure for cluster headaches.</p>

<p>Exercise for lower back pain can be as simple as going for a walk each day. Inactivity is the worst enemy of back pain, so make sure you do not lay around for any longer than you absolutely have to. All of these are people who are awake most nights, find that catching up with their sleep during the day isn&#8217;t as easy as they thought &#8211; everyone knows that sleeping during the wrong time of the day can be less satisfying, and less convincing &#8211; to either leads to a common sleeping disorder up against. What is it that they were supposed to do then? The use of sleeping medicine is a quick fix any time, but it always comes with the worry attached that there could be a price to pay one day when it all ends up. So what is a night worker do?</p>
<p>Playing around with our circadian rhythms can be risky. It puts the body at risk of coming by what they call shift work sleeping disorder &#8211; a name that should be pretty much self-explanatory. You get very sleepy when you&#8217;re working through the night, and you can&#8217;t sleep during the day when you&#8217;re supposed to. Not every night worker runs the risk of this sleeping disorder of course, but if you do, there is a lot that medical attention can do for you.</p>
<p>Shift work sleeping disorder treatment involves changing your behavior so that your circadian rhythms are reset to a different time schedule &#8211; as if you lived in a different time zone. Of course, successfully resetting your body&#8217;s clock will give you a little trouble during holidays and your weekends when you would rather you could be awake during the day to be with your friends and family. But no treatment is perfect.</p>
<p>Rhythm shifting therapy involves keeping a patient in the natural-looking light during the night when they are supposed to be awake for work, and ensconcing them away in a really dark and quiet room during the day when they are supposed to sleep. The intervening period, twilight, that tells your body that it is to prepare for sleep approaching is taken care of too &#8211; they either give you dim light or sunglasses for the time to help your body really feel like there is darkness and rest on hand. </p>
<p>In the first phase in the treatment of shift work sleep disorder, staying awake during the night can prove to be excessively difficult. It is during these times that they allow you to take short naps to help cope and it is during these times that theymost strenuously recommend that you get someone else to drive you on your commute. Your body is most likely to try to steal a little nap when you&#8217;re driving, otherwise. </p>
<p> Are drugs used in the process? Caffeine used at exactly the right moment can of course be of considerable help. But in the treatment of such a shift sleeping disorder, they give you Nuvigil or Provigil to help you stay awake through the day. It&#8217;s probably about the only place where they give you medicine to keep sleep away in the treatment of a sleeping disorder. But it&#8217;s all for a good cause.</p>

While you only ovulate once, or twice on the same day in some cases, there is a window around that day that you can use to get pregnant. You do not have to have intercourse on the very day that you ovulate to get pregnant, thus you have a bigger window than you may think. If you know how to make the most of this period of up to five days, you can get pregnant faster with a lot less frustration and worry. You just have to learn more about your body and how it works.</p>
<p>The standard ovulation days that you may be given by a doctor is day 14 or your cycle. Your cycle starts on the first day of your period and ends the day before your next one starts. This date though, is not always right for all women. Not every woman has a straightforward 28 day menstrual cycle. Some women have a cycle that goes five or even six weeks, meaning that they are not having ovulation days around the 14th day of their cycle. Instead, they have to count back two weeks from the first day of their periods to decide what day they may ovulate. It can be day 21 or 28 for some.</p>
<p>Once a women knows on what day she may ovulate, she can then plan her ovulation days. Remember, however, that this is always a guess. Even if you ovulate regularly on day 14 each cycle, you can have a month where it is delayed or changes. The foods you have to avoid may be tempting, but remember that you only have to give them up for nine months and then you can have them again. Take a little time to learn to eat right and perhaps you will develop new eating choices while eating during pregnancy that will stick with you long after your baby is born.</p>
<p>First, think about making the right food during pregnancy choices. These include fresh fruits and vegetables, though the emphasis is on green vegetables, especially early on in pregnancy. These help you with the all essential folic acid that is needed to make sure your baby avoids many birth defects. You should vary what you eat though, so you do not get bored with your choices. Make sure you thoroughly wash and scrub all types of fruit and veggie before you eat it to avoid chemicals. Buy organic foods as the very best choice.</p>
<p>You do not have to eat meat to have a healthy pregnancy, but you do have to have protein. Find another source (like beans or tofu) if you do not want to eat meant. Otherwise, make sure you have a few servings a day of lean meats as a part of getting the right food during pregnancy. You want to have lean meats, but you also want to eat the right meats. <p>Watch out for mindless snacking while eating food during pregnancy. These empty calories do very little for you and your baby. If you want a snack, eat something that has a lot of calcium. Don&#8217;t forget to drink your milk, of course, but don&#8217;t forget about cheese sticks and yogurt as yummy and nutritious snacks. If you eat a lot of these, watch out for the high fat. Drink whole milk as a part of your pregnancy plans, but choose cheese and yogurts that are lower fat. The fat in milk is good for you and the baby, but you don&#8217;t want to overdo it.</p>
<p>Lastly, remember that you are going to make some mistakes while eating food during pregnancy. No one is perfect and cravings for eating during pregnancy can get the best of you. As long as you avoid raw foods that may make you sick (like sushi, undercooked meat, or raw eggs), you are going to be okay. Most doctors will tell you to take a good prenatal vitamin to make sure you are getting most of the vitamins, minerals and the all important iron that you need. No diet is going to be perfect, but your vitamins can help you when you don&#8217;t quite get there on your own.</p>

With so many people miserable and unable to sleep a reasonable amount to function the following day, you would think that sleeping medicines would be the first thing they would think of. But most people are afraid of drugs that knock you out.  Diazepam for instance, has a grand reputation for causing addiction that is difficult to get out of.  There are either side effects or less ability to sleep once drugs are removed. But perhaps those fears are best left behind with the older generation of sleeping medicine that everyone knows of. The new Z drugs, the hypnotics &#8211; are here today, and not only do they knock you out there, they do so with few of the long-term consequences that older drugs always had. </p>
<p>The drugs Ambien, Sonata and Lunesta among others, act on the parts of the brain that are called GABA receptors, and they calm the brain down, and make us ready for the peace of sleep. Of course, doctors don&#8217;t rush out and prescribe these right away; any kind of difficulty a patient has sleeping,  the doctor&#8217;s first thought is to trace it to a source. Most kinds of insomnia are easily (or with a little trouble) traced to any number of psychological disorders or medical conditions. Whatever the causes, treatment aimed at them begin with should yield the best results for the insomniac. </p>
<p>But doctors often aim for the underlying cause of insomnia as if underlying causes are easily cured. There are plenty of medical and psychiatric problems that have no  easy cure that can be tapped in the space of a few months. For such people of course, the new generation of sleeping medicines is just the ticket.</p>
<p>These are widely prescribed today, and to most people, they do a great job with no negative effects even when used for years. And unlike the drugs of yore, modern sleeping medicine does not affect anyone in the biological sense (though one can psychologically really long for something they&#8217;ve used for a long time). Some people fear that sleeping medicine can work okay as long as you&#8217;re taking it, but it can quickly take away whatever natural ability to sleep you ever had, and completely get you dependent for life. They call this rebound insomnia &#8211; once you stop taking the drugs, you&#8217;ll find that you have lost all ability to sleep naturally. The new generation though has none of this; if insomnia does return, it could be for other reasons, and there is excellent cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia available that can help with this.</p>
<p>But the thing to be clear about is: these drugs do not harm. Will taking the new generation of sleeping medicine need you to step up the dosage once every year or so? To deal with this possibility, doctors always include cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia when prescribing these drugs. The therapy teaches you to turn your life around so that your stress habits do not keep you from sleeping. As long as this occurs, there is just no reason why you should require a higher dose of sleeping medicine as time wears on.</p>
